They can do better if we only let them go where their passion is...

Children are great assets; blessings from God. It is usually a desire of every parent or guardian to see their children do well and be the best in all aspects of life but what contribution do we have towards the same? You agree with me that 90% of students in colleges and campuses are pursuing courses that have been advised or even forced by their parents to pursue.
Good. The fact that you are general manager in that big company, you may need a doctor in your house but not necessary your son. Being that prominent business man you may need your son to be a finance manager to assist you in management of your finances, well that will be fantastic because you will shun frauds from your business and that may save you from heart attack. Mama, having that big saloon you will wish your daughter to do beauty therapy and assist you on the same that will be awesome to imagine.
However, come with me and understand what passion is. The reason why am writing it’s because it is my passion. I wish every parent/guardian understood their children’s passion. There is a reason why you do business and not teaching. Am sure if you told Lionel Messi to do music today he will kick you; we all go where our passion is.
As a parent or a guardian  we should learn to inspire your children to their passion. Most parents do not inspire their children; they manipulate them or order them to do things. They threaten or harass to try to control them and eventually they fail. This is totally wrong; being harsh isn’t a way of installing morality to your kids. They instead fear you rather than respecting you. They will do all you tell them regardless of their passion.
With time they will grow up and be rebellious; you being the cause of the rebellion. As a parent you may wonder why my son/daughter changed that drastically after joining campus to a point of shaming you in the society. Have you ever tried to imagine that you maybe the cause? It is always good to govern our children but on the other hand, we should learn to listen to them and correct them where they are going wrong.
Let’s learn to interact with our kids from their tender age with that we will be able to control them positively. We will get acquainted with their behavior and the early the better. Share with them about topics like sex, HIV/AIDS, music and entertainment generally.
Many parents find it hard to share with their children topics like sex immorality citing it vulgar. This is totally wrong that’s why we are losing our children to the world and when they are ruined we start blaming the society and government. No. The society and government have their part to do but you play the major role The Bible says’ “train a child in the way he should go and when he is old he will not turn from it” Now if we always spent our weekends in drinking sprees on weekends and come home late ours when do we train our kids? When do we understand and learn of their passion?
Passion originates from one’s talent. In fact they are inseparable. Victor Wanyama has a passion for playing football because he has a talent on the same and not athletics. Nowadays jobs like DJs, Comedy, music, football and athletics are paying awesome; however there are only a few parents  who would wish their children to be DJs probably with the perception that they will work in pubs! This may be a passion for your child and you not being interested in it, you don’t have to deter them from pursuing it but support them and ADVISE them. We have Djs in big churches and earn commensurately good salary therefore being a DJ you don’t have necessary work in a club.
Moreover, other kids have talents in comedy. Comedy looks like foolishness but am sure Churchill does not to strain a lot to get money. No matter how foolish it may look, support your child and advise them. Football is another high paid profession. Even if Cristiano Ronaldo was to resign from his  career today for instance, he will live luxurious life. There has been a big problem in Kenya in supporting talents. When I was a small kid in primary school I used to see a lot people doing well in athletics and other games but today they are nowhere to be recognized. Our football team has been struggling to qualify to AFCON since 1963, a dream which has not been met till today. Let’s all learn to respect people’s passion and talent and support them.
