Varsity Exposé

....I was in my fourth year when I was told that I didn't do a unit in first year. This sounded ironical yet painful! "How would I be in fourth year without having done a unit in first year?  How did I  proceed to second year?" Haddaseh  (not real name)  narrates..
One would ask, why was the matter not raised then? Who slept on their job? Do we have the right system in our universities? Are we  punishing our students for the faults that can that be corrected/avoided?
